About

Hi! I'm Alison a Virginia licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and a certified member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).  I have over a decade's worth of experience evaluating and treating children diagnosed with a variety of developmental delays, learning disabilities, and speech and language impairments. My career in pediatrics started in 2009 and has spanned multiple settings including: clinics,  preschools, and most recently Arlington Public Schools. I proudly opened Communicating Kids Speech & Language in 2022.

I hold a Master's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and am committed to using evidence-based methods to treat speech and language disorders.  I am passionate about helping children communicate and have completed extensive clinical trainings in order to provide the best treatments for my clients. Some of the clinical programs I have received training in include: The Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP) for AAC, Social Thinking for pragmatics, Lively Letters, Really Great Reading, and Lindamood-Bell Seeing Stars for reading.

My favorite way to treat speech, language and literacy disorders is with fun engaging activities. I believes in the power of play and strive to make every session joyful for the child.

I live in Alexandria, Virginia with my husband, son and pet poodle. When not helping children become better communicators I can usually be found outdoors; gardening, hiking or enjoying the playground with my little one.
